So the questions for this week are:
1. Which book did you read because the film led you to it? 2 . Which film adaptation did you think they got it bang on the money? 3. Which film adaptation made you sit watching it whilst muttering "well that's not right!" 4. Any books you think are long over due to be made into a film? Looking forward to hearing what you think!

The first book I really remember reading myself because I wanted to was a Mrs Pepperpot story, I loved the idea of teeny weeny Mrs Pepperpot and loved the malarkey she got up to. My gran was a schoolteacher and her gifts to us were often books. Others I remember her giving me were "Tales of Greeks and Trojans" and Asterix books in French. I loved reading and moved swiftly on from children's books to some fairly hairy reading with Pan Books of Horror (still can't bear the thought of earwigs crawling in my ear!) and settled into my favourite genre, Crime, with Agatha Christie when I was 11 years old. Now it fills me with joy to see how my 1 year old great nephew loves his books - and of course I will be buying him plenty more! So which books did you start with as a child and which do you remember best? Let us know in the comments. |
